19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a third set.

The opponent saved four early break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
